IP Pageant Entry:: Gemstones

Whoopsie, I did it again. Got excited about a theme and threw together an entry too quickly. Ahahah  

Some of you might of seen my start this image during my livestream the other day, might as well get it finished now so I can finish up some other projects. 

The theme for the month of August is gemstones, so i decided to give this a bit of a fun twist.  Quite a few gemstones are made in the most amazing of ways, by, and in volcanoes. With such heat and pressure they are created, kinda a beautiful thing in my mind, not to mention I absolutely adore crystallized things.  As I kid I would collect gemstones and keep them in a box, I actually still have that laying around somewhere. 

This image really is about the creation of the stones through destruction rather than the actual stones in a way.  On the Ei’luolai Islands of Tikah's home planet of Vort there are  multiple volcanoes scattered across their surfaces, similar to USA's Hawaii in a way.

Being rich in minerals and having the proper environments to create them, most of the mountains are filled with crystalline structures. A majority of them precious gems, and other such deposits due to its consistent volcanic activity.

In the past there have been mining colonies that would settle in these areas, though they often didn't last very long due to the frequent eruptions. Not to mention native protests towards the invasion of their 'gods' home. That being the main explanation I'm giving you as to why there are destroyed buildings in the background. 

Tikah's outfit is inspired by both Steampunk fashion, something I completely adore btw, and the birthstone for August.

I think its a lovely stone personally, with a great variety of greens complimenting each other to create a wondrous array of reflections inside of its crystalline structure. 

When I think of gemstones, or crystals, what comes to my mind is strength and beauty. Something I really wanted to embody in this image. Though beauty and Tikah are kinda  difficult to mesh. She isn't really the type to per say, 'dress up' too much. She doesn't wear frilly dresses often either, if at all. Too exposing and tedious to wear in a practical way. Though I think I did an alright job keeping her in character while having her in a semi-fancy outfit.
